Our Goal

Our Inspiration for the project was the nature that surrounds Penn State Behrend.We want to try to encompass the natural beauty that Penn State's Arboretum and trees have to offer. The Arboretum not only captures unique tree species from around the world, it can be used to follow the history of Behrend.

Navigating Our Site

The Campus Tree Map

The campus map shows most of the trees located around the Penn State Campus. You can see the locations of the trees as well as information on them. More detailed information on individual trees can be accessed on the 'Meet the Trees' page.

Meet the Trees

Meet the Trees is a detailed list including a lot of education information on the trees around campus. Using the search options at the top you can search up specific trees on campus by their common name and scientific name.

Visualizations

The visualizations page includes a lot of interesting graphics involving the trees on campus. You can use the page to visualize the trees heights, origins and more. Some of the graphics will even be interactive, that way you can view what you are interested in.

Arboretum Articles

Arboretum Articles is an page dedicated to news articles addressing the trees around campus. It includes visualizations including these mentions as well.

Meet the Team

Come learn about the team behind the site. This power team of 3 students created this site from the bottom up using a variety of different techniques and skills.

Interactive Network Graph

This network displays the relationship between the tree type and the conservation status of each tree relative to the United States.
Disclaimer: If a tree has double lines it comes from 2 various regions within the same continent. For example a tree could be from Northeastern North America as well as Southern North America
